Cherokee Rose

Where every mothers tears fall
Let your faith and love grow there
A white rose grows for each drop
Turning your trail of tears into prayer

Pleasing the aroma of trust and grace
Pure gold, is the center of your love
Tender the leaves that cradle the bloom
Lovely white petals, pure as the Dove

The Lord cherishes the comely blossom
The tender chute that grows of Thee
Thy Word , our protection in the thorns
Wondrous, breathtaking, all born of He

Grown in strength that cannot be moved
Cherokee Rose , the beautiful flower
Weep no more, mothers of the homeland
Jesus, holds us all with His love and power

Sheltered Are The Tears

The sadness and tears that fell
Went no further than my heart
I asked Someone to live there
Born of the Spirit sets me apart

Blessed the soul that trusts God
The willingness to love and obey
Casting away sin in Light of cross
To be begotten by Him is the way

Desiring to live by all that He is
Washing away of all that is vile
By the shedding of His blood
Dying for us without any guile

Sheltered are these tears of mine
He’s not far from the thoughts
That take form in the far reaches
Jesus holds the heart,  He bought

Death O' Death

In between the Rock of my life
Deep crevices where sins hide
Fissures breach and overflow
Heart, mind and soul divides

Sinew wanes under the guile
The eye drinks in and retains
The mind recalls every malice
Rebellion, the sins of Cain

Death O’ death come swiftly
Lay to rest that which is me !
I reek of stench, rotten decay
Die self, to gain more of Thee

The power of I means nothing
Bring back my innocent youth
Place Your cross upon my heart
Restoring Thy power and truth

Before Morning Comes

Before morning comes and the Son shines
Darkness of night, when the shadows fall
Unborn thoughts and dreams cry for relief
Woven into birth, Scarlet Thread's to us all

My sin has taken away your glory covering
I hid among the world and all it’s temptation
We will never know what you went through
The shedding of Your blood for our salvation

You covered my sin and made new garments
Scarlet Threads made of love and sacrifice
A Royal gift , given by Your amazing mercy
The Lord has provided for my soul and life

The Blood cry’s out, O’ the Blood cry’s out
From the first of sin, to yours and to mine
You did it all, and I never knew, until now
Innocence died and united me with the Vine

Shades Of Wonder

Whispering pines, gentleness of air
Tree’s yield floating hue of leaves
We live at one time, only for a time
Vanishing quickly , like the breeze

Autumn lanes crown the welcome
A beautiful compliment to season
Pumpkins lend their orange yellow
Shades of wonder are His reason

Creation displays in marvel for you
Few believe, their isn’t a God above
Changing of occasion or your goal
Never deny the elegance of His love

Sprinkling rain enhances the view
Showers that water soul and earth
To the morning, pearly drops renew
Awakening fallow life and rebirth !

Eye's Wide Open

You can’t change a line or a Word
This is not a poem to make it flow
Rhyme or rhythm holds No place
The Word is Him, didn’t you know

So caught up in our own self worth
We take His glory without a thought
We live according to what He wrote
Do I forget, freedom is blood bought

Life can feel like there’s no tomorrow
Sorrowful , the man that believes it so
Payday of greater value is our reward
Heaven is Jesus, not a fancy chateau

Time has a way of flying right along
In the name of Jesus, eyes open wide
Cherish the last breath given unto you
Give your life to Him and never hide

He’s waiting with love and salvation
Fleeting are the days of carefree dare
Serious are the Words to eternal home
Hell’s mouth devours, it doesn’t care !

Red The Rose Of Love

Scarlet the red, red rose of summer
Like the bloom, He’ll come again
Thy King did not bid ye farewell
His love will flower until the end

Enticing is the blooming of season
Sweet aroma’s of love, fills the air
Killing frost has no power over life
The blossom of Salvation is so Fair

Never has a flower, been so loved
It’s petals unfold with flawless grace
Thy Lord the sweetest of Fragrance
Such longing for His perfect embrace

Ages have delighted in His holy beauty
Filled our senses with lovely Perfume
Thy power, my Lord, blessing’s untold
Red of Rose, our birth and Bridegroom

Morning In Heaven

When we wake up to Morning in heaven
Heartache will have no place up there
Sickness holds no welcome with angels
To walk through the gate is to be an heir

Streets of gold, holds wondrous beauty
Walls of jasper will be lovely to behold
The glorious choir singing in true voice
Many things of splendor and joy foretold

It all means nothing to me when I awake
To morning in heaven in the arms of Jesus
In the shadow of His Wings is my reward
His light shines forever and ever endless

The journey has been my good pleasure
Where He has never left my heart or side
Loving Him has been my every gladness
Morning in heaven with Him, will I abide

Here I Stand

Purple Flowers,Flowers

I stood in the middle of the square
My head and hands bound in stock
With a heavy yoke upon my back
Feet bound in chains with no lock

Standing there all alone in my blame
Darkness was falling with it’s fears
There was no one around to find me
My midnight hour, shed many tears

Is there anyone to help in this place
Here I stand, for all the world to see
Found guilty and condemned by man
Where do I go or turn to in my plea

From somewhere hidden in my mind
A distant childhood memory came
Someone called Jesus could set me free
Deliver me from sin and all my shame

The yoke came flying from my back
Bound feet now follow a different path
My head and hands lift toward heaven
Saved by His blood , giving all He had

Letter From Calvary

Love letters written in Words of red
This is My Body which is given for you
Are the most beautiful words ever said

To love me and be so ready to forgive
No matter if I fail Him in every way
Tender eyes look upon me, and I live

Though I do wrong and sometimes sway
And shame fills my soul with anguish
He sends His love for me, always, always

Blood from the wounds He took for me
Wrote a letter on every page of the Book
Love, was finished on a hill called Calvary

No path will ever take me far enough astray
That He won’t know my every footstep
And send His love for me always, always !

The Way Maker

The Way Maker, O’ The Way Maker
Leaves straight, the path to follow
He has crossed from death to life
His promises are not vain or hollow

Sometimes the valleys seem canyons
High walls that you can’t climb alone
Blue sky’s, so far off and out of reach
Not a foothold, doubts lies, bemoan

In the Lord, put I my trust and refuge
Then comes faith, God’s small seed
The Way Maker, O’ The Way Maker
Lifter of mine head, see’s to my need

Attentive to my cry, hearing my prayer
Forging hope in peoples of the earth
Helping us to become good travelers
Leaving despair, ere, blooms of rebirth

The Way Maker, O’ The Way Maker !
Redeemer of life and my new home
I will love Thee, O Lord my strength
My Father, forever, my Birth Stone !

Maude's Chariot

I was just nine and he was only seven
He was covered with freckles, me a few
Oh the temptation of grandpa’s old slide
Old Maude was hitched and we just knew

We stepped up onto our wooden chariot
No wheels, it just slid along the ground
Giddy up, giddy up, yon faithful steed !
Away we went with the speed of sound

Mama came running, screaming loud
The old gray mare had left a clear trail
Over the corn, and through a wire fence
By then, we were looking, kind of pale

What a wild ride for such little kids
By then brother had dropped the reins
If I told the truth, oh what fun we had
O’ there was going to be aches and pains

She came to a stop in widow Tarver’s lane
Mama had taken every step Maudey trod
She didn’t curse or say anything profane
Just something bad about sparing the rod !

Model T And Me

My old body may run like a Model T
And I am climbing hills in reverse
It Takes a lot to get all cranked up
Running on four cylinders, can hurt

Been put in the shop a time or two
To look under the hood for a start
Over heated and nearly blew my top
Ok now, but sorry guys, no spare parts

I’d like to say it’s been a smooth ride
The Good Lord never said it would be
One of these days, I’m gonna trade it in
Nothing used ,wrecked or aged for me

All white, polished and seats of gold
I run like a antique, but not by choice
Soon I’ll step out of the old Model T
And step right into a new Rolls Royce

I’ll take it for a ride down by the river
Sit and talk with Jesus, my Good Friend
Listen to Him, breathe Him, enjoy Him
Praise Him, love Him for this Godsend !

Morning Star Rights

Can you see through midnight
Feel the darkness settle around
Morning seems to never come
The sense of being earthbound

Loneliness for the break of light
To come through, yet another day
How precious the sight of dawn
Taking solace in the Son ray’s

I pray, never again this black void
Alone with self, and full of regret
Son of God, our righteous Saviour
Give me Your Light, Your Sonset

So many smiles , less the heart
A walking, talking empty shell
Hateful, hurtful, centered pain
Countless souls with a story to tell

Fill me with Your love and passion
I’ve been the one in indigo plight
Gone the heartache of being alone
Saved, with Morning Star rights !!!

Summertime At Twilight

While the light still prevails
From twilight to sundown
The lonely whippoorwill sings
Sweet, soothing, dulcet sounds

Four o’clocks of pink and white
Perfume the early evening hour
Butterflies and humming birds
Pay homage to the fragrant flower

From the sleepy little pond
White mist floating along the top
Tiny little minnows bite the air
Turtles come off their sunning rock

From the lowest hanging limb
Little girl, old board and rope swing
Hair flying and laughing out loud
Music, the joy, soaring brings

Fireflies begin to dot the dusky sky
Evening breezes, coolness of night
How beautiful, this time of day
God’s summertime, at twilight !

Dry Riverbed

I am thirsty for Life giving Water
And I came to drink from Your Well
I know the Hand that lifts the cup
Not from a stream, brook or pail

None other will ever taste so sweet
Or satisfy this longing deep inside
O’ Sweet Holy Spirit , Jesus my Lord
I am parched and lonely ,your bride

Righteousness calls for a different gale
Storm clouds of unease and unrest
Raining conviction from a raging sky
making believers again and not guests

Pour steadily on this empty desert trough
Harsh bitterness, the taste of unbelief
Dry riverbeds starve for rain of rebirth
Water from Thine Own hand, is our relief !

In His Keep

I dreamed of a table set before me
beautiful crystal and wedding fare
Gleaming gold and polished silver
Regal and placed with loving care

The finest of white linen lay below
Crimson bottles of the richest wine
The purest water from deepest wells
Someone special was coming to dine

The scene was set, befitting a King
Fragrance of longing filled the air
Anticipation needed the Door open
Knowing I would worship Him there

He was the Bread that I would eat
And I knew I would sit at His table
Drink the wine from His own hand
Partake of the truth and not a fable

Grateful for His love and sacrifice
I was drawn downward to His feet
Laying there humble and in devotion
Knowing I was saved and in His Keep

Wings Of Moonlight

Do I stay or do I go
In the gray mist of thought
Astray, floundering on life’s sea
Or do I look for the Lighthouse
That always is, a Beacon of Thee

Setting adrift without sail
To only row against the wind
Being tossed and turned about
Spending folly's, peaceful end
Just to go, where You send

I feel the wrench of Your tide
Out beyond myself and life’s toll
Knowing Your pull to stop my flight
Drawing me away from my own coast
On the wings of this moonlit night

O' to gaze upon innocent shores
Where I see footprints waiting there
That bid come, come and follow me
Leaving myself with nothing to dare
I follow them, follow them anywhere

Walking The Valley ... song

When you're walking, on that valley floor
And trials are coming round the bend
Take out your Sword, The Word of God
And speak, into the Holy Spirit Wind
Jesus is His name
His blood's flowing in our veins
Through battle or victory
His Word, always stays the same
I'm gonna stand upon the Rock
At the foot of the mountain
And climb, climb, climb
Praise upon praise
Shout upon shout
It's not faith that hurts you
In your valley
It's the doubt
I'm gonna shout! shout!
How wonderful is the Lamb
Praises to His name, glory hallelujah
His Word, always stays the same
